DIVERSITY & INCLUSIVITY
Stronger Together
At Reitmans, our goal is to ensure all our customers feel seen and heard.
In Canada especially, our beauty is found in the various
origins of the people from
our community who contribute to the richness of our culture.
Did You Know?
We make it a point to communicate the importance of diversity in
the initiatives
we support, so that all Canadian women feel represented.
The National Day for Truth & Reconciliation 2024
This year, we’ve once again partnered with Ashley Callingbull; model, actress, titleholder of Miss Universe Canada 2024 and a First Nations activist from the Enoch Cree nation.
Featured on our "It's True To Me" series this fall, Ashley spoke on drawing strength from her culture and embracing her identity with traditional and symbolic accents. She infuses her daily style with beadwork by some of her favourite indigenous artisans, like Tiny Thunderbird Designs and Jacinta & J'shen Tsosie. Inspired by her culture, Ashley devotes herself and her work to bringing awareness to Indigenous communities.
On behalf of Ashley Callingbull, Reitmans is happy to donate $10,000 to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. This contribution will go toward helping to provide essential services to residential school survivors and families experiencing intergenerational trauma.
You can also help support this program by donating here.
Our Past Initiatives
Honouring Pride 2024
This year, we released a limited-edition “Threads of Love” charm bracelet in support of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and donated $25,000 of the proceeds to Egale, Canada’s leading national organization for 2SLGBTQI+ people and issues.
The National Day for Truth & Reconciliation 2023
This year, we worked with our Fall ambassador Ashley Callingbull to help bring awareness to the importance of community, culture and life experience in Indigenous communities. We also donated $10,000 to the Enoch Cree Nation Youth Arts Program.
Truth and Reconciliation Day 2022
To honour the occasion, we paid tribute and acknowledged the Indigenous names or territories that are home to many of our stores. We also donated $5,000 to Centre Unicura.
We Stand With Pride 2022
We invested $10,000 into a training program provided by Fondation Émergence and a seminar on LGBTQ+ topics so everyone feels safe and welcome in our stores and offices.
Truth and Reconciliation Day 2021
In September 2021, we donated $5,000 to The Native Women’s Association of Canada to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
